The Beadling Inferno is 17 girls from around the
greater Pittsburgh area, most of whom have been playing soccer since they were 4 years old. They have all finished their freshman year of high school in school districts that include Erie, Freeport, Butler, Moon, Hopewell, Fox Chapel, Peters, Murrysville, Norwin, and Allegheny county, where 95% played on their varsity teams and two received All-Section awards. Eighty-seven percent of the players have participated in the PAWEST Olympic Development Program, with 5 (so far) going on to Region 1 and one to National events.
The commitment and talent of all of these 17 young ladies has been evident for some time and has led the team to accumulate some dramatic statistics:
For this year alone, the Inferno has a record 32-2-4 from games played in the U15Gs Indoor League at PISA from Jan-Mar 2007, Region 1 Premiere League, PAWEST State Cup, and three tournaments (Elite Tournament at Sahlen Sports Indoor facility, Columbia Invitational, and the JAGS (Jersey Area Girls Soccer) tournament where Inferno won the top flight and beat the ENY State Champion team). Inferno also played and won in four friendlies (Beadling U14b, U16 Hotspurs, U16 North United, and U15 Montgomery (EPA).
Highlights of the season included playing in the Premiere League, scoring 29 goals during the State Cup games while allowing only 3 against, and winning the top flight at JAGS.
Total goals scored thus far - 145 for and 21 against! Needless to say, Inferno is anxiously awaiting the regional championship games in Portalnd ME!
